Papillon Belle creates fine jewellery using real butterfly wings — one of nature’s most extraordinary materials. Each wing is preserved in its entirety, encased in optical-grade, crystal-clear acrylic and set in solid sterling silver, allowing its natural colour, pattern and iridescence to remain beautifully intact for a lifetime of wear.
Our wing selection depends on availability and changes regularly, making each collection naturally limited. Choose your ideal setting from the options below.
HOW BUTTERFLY FARMING SAVES RAINFORESTS
Butterflies depend on the native host plants and rich ecosystems found in healthy rainforests to survive. But these forests are under constant pressure to be cleared for cattle pasture, palm oil, bananas and other monoculture crops.
Protecting them requires that the people who live alongside them can earn a better living from a living forest than from a cleared one. Butterfly farming makes that possible — creating income from biodiversity and giving local communities an economic reason to keep the forest standing.

Crafted with Purpose
Every pendant begins with a real butterfly wing, sourced through the conservation farming above — then set by hand in Cape Town to last a lifetime. It's jewellery built on purpose, from source to setting.

Established in 2011
Made by Hand, Built to Last
Each pendant is crafted individually by skilled artisans in Cape Town. The wing is set in a solid sterling silver frame and encased between two panes of precision laser-cut, optical-grade, crystal-clear acrylic — allowing both the vivid top surface and the intricate underside of the wing to be seen simultaneously.
The edge of every frame is engraved with the Papillon Belle logo and year of manufacture. Each piece arrives in a luxury gift box with a certificate about the butterfly and its country of origin — designed to be worn, treasured, and passed down.

Why Morpho Wings Glow
The extraordinary blue of a Morpho wing isn't pigment — it's light. Microscopic ridges on the surface of each scale refract light at specific wavelengths, producing a colour that shifts and deepens with every movement. In sunlight it blazes electric blue. In shadow it softens to teal. No two viewings are ever quite the same — and no photograph ever quite captures it.
This is what makes butterfly wings such extraordinary material for jewellery. The acrylic encasement doesn't diminish that quality. It preserves it, perfectly, forever.
They arrived and ohhh my goodness!!! What a fun package to open up! Everything looks so gorgeous and it is going to take everything out of me to not gift them until March. Thank you so much for working with me on this. Since I discovered you in 2016, I hoped I could have your gorgeous jewelry present at my wedding, and my wish has come true! The blue pendant is gorgeous and I plan to wear it on the big day!

The blue Morpho was what drew me to your site in the first place and then you had such lovely options! It was hard to settle on one piece. I wanted them all!!!

Audrey, I just opened my envelope to find my incredibly beautiful new necklace. I feel so lucky to be the proud owner of this piece. Thank you so much!

I love wearing my pendants because they seem to echo whatever I'm wearing and however I'm feeling. They also have a wonderful way of inviting delight, fascination and conversation from the moment they are noticed.

I first saw my butterfly 🦋 wing at the Design Indaba fair in 2011. I thought it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. I liked the way the refractions played with my eyes. The blue wing sort of made up for the fact that I don’t have blue eyes. It has consistently been a joy to wear my wing.
